Joel Thomas
Professional Background
Joel is an IBM Senior Manager and Chartered Management Consultant. In 2025, Joel was a recipient of the prestigious City & Guilds Foundation Membership Award, which recognises those ‘who go above and beyond to transform lives through skills and training’. Joel leads IBM’s employer-provided Junior Management Consultant apprenticeship pathway for IBM’s Consulting business unit and leads the apprenticeship programme for IBM’s Technology business unit. Joel has spoken at events including the Annual Apprenticeship Conference, the European Alliance for Apprenticeships, Institute for Student Employers Conference and National Safeguarding Forum. In 2024, Joel authored a chapter on ambassadorship for the Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship Handbook. Joel had the privilege of meeting Princess Anne to receive the Princess Royal Training Award, as well as the Inclusion & Diversity commendation, for the Intern programme he previously co-led.
