City St George's, University of London has been at the leading edge of computer science in the UK for six decades, laying the groundwork for the founding of the British Computer Society and awarding some of the country's first Computer Science degrees. Today the Department of Computer Science researches AI, machine learning, data presentation, gaming, software reliability and cyber security, based on the doorstep of London's Tech City cluster. Its Data Science MSc was the first of its kind in London, and a Data Science Apprenticeship MSc and Cyber Security MSc apprenticeship let working professionals gain the same expertise without leaving employment. The department also runs one of the UK's longest-established Human-Computer Interaction Design MSc programmes through its Centre for HCI Design, plus specialist masters in User Experience Engineering, AI, Computer Games Technology with VR, and Software Engineering with Cloud Computing.
