About Lancaster University
Lancaster University's School of Computing and Communications, based in the InfoLab21 building, offers degrees spanning computer science, AI, cyber security, networking and human-computer interaction. In 2025 the university opened one of the UK's largest educational facilities for training computer science and cyber security students, backed by a £4m Office for Students grant, including eight specialist teaching laboratories and a dedicated cyber wall for hands-on security practice. This sits within Lancaster's wider £19m Data Cyber Quarter initiative, timed to coincide with the arrival of the National Cyber Force in nearby Samlesbury — a development expected to create around 30,000 skilled cyber roles regionally. Students can also get involved with LUHack, the student-run ethical hacking society, and access on-campus office space used by more than 50 tech businesses since 2007.
Through Tech Industry Gold accredited programmes, Lancaster University provides learners with industry-relevant knowledge, practical experience, and strong career outcomes.
