About Loughborough University
Founded in 1974, Loughborough University's Department of Computer Science is one of the most well-established computing departments in the UK, based in the multi-million-pound refurbished Haslegrave Building alongside over 40 academic staff and around 700 undergraduates. An Industry Liaison Committee representing leading UK and international companies feeds directly into curriculum development and career advice, and all undergraduate courses offer an optional year-long industry placement, with past students placed at IBM, Intel and Accenture. Research spans AI, robotics, computer networks and theoretical computer science, supported by five general computer labs and four specialist facilities for robotics, networking, imaging technology and cyber security — including a humanoid 'Pepper' robot and Aldebaran NAO robots used in deep learning research.
