About Northumbria University
Northumbria University's School of Computer Science, housed in an award-winning £7m building in the centre of Newcastle, was a founding member of the Institute of Coding — a 25-university consortium launched by government to close the UK's digital skills gap. The department is one of only 19 UK universities recognised as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research, and ranked 12th in the UK for research power in REF2021, a rise of 54 places. Every undergraduate gets the chance to work on a live project with a real client, including Ryder Architecture and Accenture Software, and a 'computers and society' module is built into every course to explore the ethical and societal impact of technology. Degrees span Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Human-Centred Computing, with opportunities to earn Microsoft and Cisco credentials alongside the degree.
Through Tech Industry Gold accredited programmes, Northumbria University provides learners with industry-relevant knowledge, practical experience, and strong career outcomes.
