The digital transformation journeys being embarked on by Higher Education Institutions to become "digital universities" was the focus of this week’s Times Higher Education (THE) Digital Universities UK Conference, hosted by Exeter University.

    Technological change and financial uncertainty

This stimulating event brought together nearly 800 pioneers in academia and industry to discuss the future of higher education amidst the dual challenges of technological change and financial uncertainty. We at TechSkills were honoured to be one of the keynote speakers at this prestigious gathering, where we highlighted the critical role of universities and the education sector as a whole in tackling the UK’s tech skills crisis.**Universities transform extraordinary into ordinary **

Lorna Willis, CEO of TechSkills, spoke about the thought-provoking initiatives she witnessed at the conference. "It's truly inspiring to see such a level of ambition across the sector, striving to harness new resources to develop the graduates of tomorrow - people who will not only be equipped with the tech skills needed to drive the UK forward but also the human skills to ensure the balance of tech and humanity in our future. These efforts turn what not so long ago seemed extraordinary into what is now taken for ordinary, everyday achievements of our academic institutions." Her enthusiasm underscored a shared commitment to embracing emerging technologies in the quest to deliver the most valuable possible educational experience for students.

**Collaboration to prepare the workforce of tomorrow **

TechSkills’ participation highlighted its ongoing initiatives that align with universities’ goals. From developing cutting-edge curriculum to offering novel student experience and enrichment, TechSkills is at the forefront of preparing the workforce for tomorrow’s challenges, bringing employers and education together in action.

Our thanks to Exeter University and Times Higher Education, who hosted a wonderful event that we were thrilled to be a part of. We gained many valuable insights and look forward to continuing the conversations with the innovative universities, employers and partners we met at the event. At TechSkills, we are excited to continue collaborating with academic institutions to advance technology education, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to the mission of making the extraordinary ordinary through education and skills development.
