Skills Shortages in the UK Economy – Edge Bulletin 2
The second of Edge’s bulletins on the UK’s skills shortages shines a spotlight on the tech industry and the devastating economic impact of the government’s failure to encourage young people to study relevant subjects and upskill existing workers. An estimated 600,000 vacancies in digital technology are costing the country £63 billion a year.
This publication aims to help employers, educators and students develop a more common understanding of the language of digital jobs and degrees and share ideas for practical steps to improve the flow of talent. It was produced as part of a Tech Partnership-run project commissioned by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
A group of businesses from across the UK have come together to lead a review for government of Industrial Digitalisation - also described as the 4th Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0. The interim report comes halfway through the review and summarises the group’s work to date.
