Digital Degree Apprentice becomes a showstopper success

In April 2018 Tech Partnership Degrees interviewed Chris Bubloz about his Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship journey where he is working towards a BSc in Digital & Technology Solutions at Brighton and Hove City Council, with aspirations to become a full-time technician.

Six months later, Chris’ ambitions were realised when he secured a permanent role as an IT Technician. Since then there’s been no stopping Chris as he has just won the Highly Commended award in the IT Apprentice of the Year category at the British Computer Society IT Industry Awards. An accolade well deserved.

The judging panel criteria assessed candidates’ innovation, acting as a role model and measurable success which Chris clearly demonstrated since he embarked on his degree apprenticeship. Chris said, “The council has been fantastic, really supportive. I didn’t feel like I had a clue when I started, but my colleagues have really helped me through.”

Degree apprenticeships are the fastest-growing route to attracting top talent into business. They attract high calibre candidates who gain all the benefits of on-the-job learning and a fee-free Honours degree. Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeships are designed by leading employers to equip degree apprentices for work in a wide range of graduate-level tech roles, including cybersecurity analyst, data analyst, business analyst, network engineer, software engineer and more.

Revolutionising the way young people get started on a tech career

To help companies attract and retain tech specialists, leading employers and universities have collaborated through  ‘Tech Partnership Degrees’ to develop a range of digital degree apprenticeships. Each university’s digital degree apprenticeships programme is accredited by employers as Tech Industry Gold, so it meets industry standards for quality, content, and delivery.

To join a programme, candidates need to satisfy the employer’s recruitment requirements as well as the associated university’s entry criteria. Once accepted, they are equipped with a range of skills and knowledge: technical skills, of course, but also the business and interpersonal skills that are equally valued by employers.
