What has been the best experience of your Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship?

The best experience for me was submitting my dissertation and some of the more challenging assignments. It was great to see that my hard work paid off with the results I achieved. On reflection, I can also see how I’ve progressed over the years, by applying theoretical learning with practical experience. When I first started I did not think a first-class honours was possible, but with the support, guidance and encouragement from my work colleagues and university tutors, it was achievable. I am very grateful and appreciative of all the support I have been given throughout the degree apprenticeship.

What has been the most challenging experience of your Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship?

I found being motivated at times was quite a challenge especially towards the end of the apprenticeship. Studying while working certainly has its perks but, as I took on more responsibility, it did become increasingly difficult to balance my work with studying. I had to make some tough decisions if I wanted to do well in my degree which meant that I had to balance work with my personal life.

What would you say now to yourself before you enrolled on your degree apprenticeship?

I would say make the most of it. I actually enjoyed myself at university. I would suggest that having a hobby and a social life are brilliant for mental well being.

What would you say to anyone considering a Tech Industry Gold accredited degree apprenticeship?

The Digital and Technology Solutions degree is so much more as you get the experience of work whilst studying. You can apply what you learn to the workplace. You can also expect to grow your network and have a fulfilling career where you’re learning in a safe environment, with support from a mentor or coach. Additionally, you don’t have to be in financial debt to achieve the degree.

What are you planning to do this summer?

I am going to catch up with some friends and family. I’ve also secured some interesting projects at Fujitsu which I’m looking forward to which are interesting and challenging. Finally, catching up with chores and relaxing is an amazing feeling! I will be doing more of that and I may have a weekend break somewhere soon.

What are your career plans?

I think doing a job that I enjoy is important. Completing my degree at university has re-invigorated my curiosity, energy and enthusiasm in life. It made me realise I need to ensure I do a job that I enjoy and challenging because it provides its own rewards. My immediate plans are to stay at Fujitsu and continue my development professionally.

Who inspires you?

I am inspired by quite a few people, but I would say someone like Totto Wolff or Niki Lauda (I’m a racing fan) who despite certain odds against them were able to persevere and do their very best.  Having a positive attitude and knowing how to maintain it is very important to me.

Anything else to add?

I would like to say a personal thank you to all my colleagues at Fujitsu who have supported me, encouraged me, and guided me over the past four years.
