    BSc Data Science

Earn BSc in Data Science while working in industry

    Your Journey

    Your journey starts here

    Journey overview

This structured pathway combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, preparing you for real-world impact in your field.

    What you'll get

Accredited Level 6 qualification aligned to industry standards

    Who it's for

This programme is designed for people who are starting or early in their data career and want a degree-level qualification without stepping away from the workforce. You might be moving into a data role from a related analytical or technical background, or you could be entering data science for the first time with strong A-level maths or a related Level 3 qualification. If you want your learning to count in practice — not just on paper — and your employer is ready to support that ambition, this is built for you.

    Career progression

Completing this programme positions you for senior data scientist roles within two to five years, where you can expect to lead complex modelling projects, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute at a strategic level. From there, the natural progression includes Principal or Lead Data Scientist, Analytics Manager, or specialist paths into machine learning engineering and AI consultancy — and the BSc provides a solid foundation should you later pursue a Level 7 master's-level qualification.

    Overview

    About this programme

The Data Scientist Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6) gives you a BSc in Data Science alongside three years of paid, employer-embedded work. Where a full-time university degree puts industry practice at the end, this programme threads it through every module — you are solving real business problems, working with live datasets, and building production-ready models from the moment you start.

You will cover the full breadth of modern data science: statistical modelling, machine learning, AI techniques including computer vision and natural language processing, data engineering, cloud deployment, and the governance and ethics frameworks that responsible data use demands. Maths, software engineering, and communications are treated as equally important — because data scientists who cannot translate findings into decisions are only half the job.

The programme is structured around your employer's needs as much as the academic standard. That means your learning is grounded in genuine organisational context rather than hypothetical case studies. By the time you sit your end-point assessment, you will have a degree, a portfolio of real-world projects, and several years of industry experience that a campus-based graduate simply cannot match.
