Who it's for
This programme is designed for people who are starting their career in digital support or have some early workplace experience with technology and want to formalise and deepen their skills. You do not need a technical background — what matters is an interest in how digital tools work and a genuine desire to help others use them better. It suits anyone who enjoys problem-solving, communicates well and wants a structured route into the tech industry without going to university.
Career progression
Completing this apprenticeship opens doors to analyst, coordinator and specialist roles across IT support, digital operations and application management. Many graduates go on to Level 4 programmes such as the Software Developer or Data Analyst apprenticeships, or move into senior support and digital transformation roles as their experience grows.
About this programme
Digital Support Technicians sit at the heart of how modern organisations function. This Level 3 apprenticeship prepares you to maximise the use of digital tools, productivity software, information systems and communication platforms across every part of a business. You will learn to support colleagues and customers with real problems, diagnose faults, manage data, and coach others to use digital systems with confidence.
Where many tech programmes focus on infrastructure and hardware, this one is firmly grounded in software, applications and people. You will become fluent in digital office environments, learn to operate CRM, finance and HR systems, and develop the skills to drive digital adoption across your organisation. The programme has two routes: Digital Applications Technician for those supporting internal users, and Digital Service Technician for those working with external customers.
Apprentices earn while they learn over a 15-month programme, gaining hands-on experience in a real workplace. The end-point assessment combines a project report, presentation and professional discussion — so you graduate with demonstrated, practical ability rather than just a qualification on paper.
