Applicants should have a sponsoring employer, meet minimum Level 2 English and maths requirements, and be ready to commit to four years of combined work-based and academic learning.
Career progression
Completing this degree apprenticeship positions you for senior technical or advisory roles such as Senior Software Engineer, Solutions Architect, IT Strategy Consultant, or Technology Programme Manager. Many graduates go on to pursue Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status through BCS, or continue into postgraduate study at Level 7, including MBA programmes with a digital specialism or MSc courses in Cyber Security, Data Science, or Engineering Management.

The BSc Digital & Technology Solutions Professional is the Level 6 degree apprenticeship for people who want to build a serious technical career without pausing their working life. Co-designed by major employers including BT, IBM, Accenture, HMRC, and Lloyds Banking Group, the programme delivers a full undergraduate degree through blended workplace and university learning — meaning you earn a salary from day one, with no tuition fees to worry about.
Over four years you will develop a strong foundation in software development, systems thinking, data management, cybersecurity, and network infrastructure before deepening your expertise in one of four specialisms: Software Engineer, IT Consultant, Business Analyst, or Network Engineer. Each pathway is grounded in real work your employer actually needs done, so the transition from learner to practitioner happens while you study, not after.
The programme culminates in an independent End-Point Assessment that tests your ability to perform as a qualified digital professional. Graduates are eligible to join BCS as Chartered IT Professionals (CITP), giving them a portable credential recognised across the UK tech industry. Whether you are a school leaver stepping into your first IT role or an existing employee formalising years of on-the-job experience, this degree apprenticeship offers a credible, practical route to the top tier of the profession.
