Class of 2021: I’m going to work as a SAP Consultant at Capgemini

Caitlin Christie

Name: Caitlin Christie
Degree Title: IT Management for Business (ITMB) BSc Degree
University: Northumbria

How did you find out about Tech Industry Gold accredited degrees?

UCAS! I wanted a mixture between IT/CompSci and Business Studies but very few courses actually allowed for this, which is when I found ITMB which covered everything I wanted to do.

What was the best moment of your degree experience?

Becoming involved with TechSkills and Northumbria SU – from becoming a Gold Ambassador for ITMB at Northumbria, to helping with TS events and running my own Women in STEM event in my second year as Women’s Rep for Engineering and Environment.

What was the most challenging experience?

Moving to London for my placement year! I’m a countryside girl so this was a big jump for me and it really overwhelmed me, but I did it anyway!

What would you say now to yourself before you enrolled on your degree?

Stop doubting yourself, say yes to everything even if you’re terrified, and don’t worry if you’re not good at everything, it’ll all work out.

What would you say to anyone considering a Tech Industry Gold degree?

Absolutely go for it! You’ll have the opportunity to meet so many new people who will inspire you and will be willing to help you with anything. Also, say yes to any opportunity that comes up, you don’t know who you’re going to meet or how much it can help you later down the line until you try it!

What are you planning to do this summer?

I’ve just started my graduate role as an SAP Applications Consultant with Capgemini so I’m going to be working! I’m also moving home for the summer so will get to spend lots of time with family and friends that I haven’t seen for a while.

What are your career plans?

I’m still not completely sure, but that’s okay! I’m taking every opportunity as it comes and then I’ll work it out from there.

Who inspires you?

All of the women in my family. My mum, granny, and aunts have always been a big part of my life. They’ve taught me so many things like taking care of myself and others, standing up for what I believe in, and always pushing me to be the best I can be.
